Light before sun? Explanation 4: God!

5This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you:  God is Light; in him there is no darkness at all.  I John 1.5  NIV
Now we come to the most supernatural conclusion:  God is light!  If God is present and chooses to manifest it, his light is adequate and no external source, such as a ball of fire in the sky, is necessary.

In ancient times, I read, there was no distinction between what was natural and what was supernatural.  Why?  Because everything was seen as supernatural, the work of the gods.  Preceding development of the scientific method by long ages, what was known then was known by observation.  What was assumed then, as seen from writings, is that gods were behind physical phenomena.

So, could God have provided light before he provided the sun?  Undoubtedly.  He is God after all.

But did God provide light before he provided the sun?  Maybe not.  He seems to like to work through natural means rather than constantly wowing us with his power.

It's something to think about.
